⚫️ Vacuum casting service
Low cost. Fast turnaround. Small batch.
Vacuum casting for elastomers requires a mold. We produce this mold accurately in silicone using a “master” (created by SL, etc). The mold is placed in a vacuum chamber and a mixture of urethane and epoxy is poured in, then degassed. Finally the mold is removed, revealing the end product, which is oven-cured.
Silicon can be used in place of a traditional (metal) mold, producing an end product equivalent to the prototype in a short space of time.
Also, by using the same or similar resin as the original master, any number of copies can be made, making this process suitable for small batch production.
For batches of less than 100, vacuum fabrication casting is both cost and time-effective.
- Reproductive accuracy is better than traditional molds
- Silicon molds can be produced in a shorter time
- If it is possible to make the part by injection molding then, generally, vacuum casting is also possible
- metal parts can be inserted into the casting
